This year marks ten years since I served in East Timor with the Australian Army. East Timor has held a special place in my heart over the last ten years, so I've decided I'm going back to retrace my steps!
East Timor is a country right on our doorstep, full of so much natural beauty, yet so little known by the Australian Public. It is only an hour and twenty minutes from Darwin, much closer than Bali, but it is rarely chosen by Aussies as a holiday destination.
I want to change this. Forget Bali, travel to Timor-Leste!
